Emily Irene VanCamp who initially wanted to become professional dancer, became interested in acting after visiting her sister Katie in the making of the film Ladies Room. As she began taking acting classes, Emily VanCamp was also able to get guest roles on television series in Canada. A few of the series she had starred in among others included: Are You afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp achieved a major career breakthrough when he was selected to play the role of regular Sam Dolan in WB's horror mystery series Glory Days. Although the show received positive review, the show's low rating led to it being ended after nine short episodes. The May 12th, 1986 actress immediately secured a new role in Everwood. The character she plays Amy Abbott is one of the major characters. Her role in the film brought her 4 Teen Choice Awards nominations and the Young Artist Award.
