Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American actor and singer from Irish origin. The fiery, passionate roles she appeared in number of American films were appreciated by the green-eyed beauty , with flashing hair and fiery eyes. Her beauty and elegance were awe-inspiring. Her name was also known as the Queen Of Technicolor and was a household name in Hollywood. Her roles onscreen reflect her strong, brave spirit. She was determined to be recognized and survival in a male-dominated society. She often referred to herself as the "tough Irish lass" who will never sacrifice her reputation and respect in order to secure the roles she deserved through merit. She was a fervent supporter of women's roles on television and in films, and gained numerous followers as a result. The autobiography of her, 'Tis herself', published in 2004, provided an honest and unfiltered account of her entire life's experiences, including the struggles as she climbed the ladder of success. She was an adventurous woman who wasn't afraid to try herself at her own tricks. She appeared in more than 60 films, and was a international star. She remarried in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr., a former pilot brigadier and chief who were pioneers of transatlantic aviation. O'Hara retired after couple of years of marriage. Blair died tragically in a plane crash in 1978, ending O'Hara’s joy. In the same year she was diagnosed with uterine carcinoma and required surgery immediately. She was capable of recovering. Her health declined over the years and she was diagnosed with heart attacks that caused six short-term memory loss and diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara, who was 95, quietly passed away in Boise on 24 October 2015.
